Stunning! The shapes and patterns of Derek Lam for fall 2011 are some of my favorites for the season.  Bold shapes paired with daring patterns look flattering and warm. Coats, pants, and long dresses were all part of the line. My favorite is this flowing dress in the middle. We will continue to see maxi dresses/skirts into this cold weather season.

The essential wedge has taken on new looks! For fall/winter ankle booties are a must have. These awesome wedges by Jessica Buurman stand out with a metal plated zig-zag "heel" built in. So cute in black you can rock any outfit.

I have high hopes for this winter to be a lot brighter than the last. Go for everything in color out of the ordinary, including shades. I say choose fun colors for this winter, but if you must get black, go for a black with embellishments. I love these Balenciaga frames.

The choker necklace is back, but definitely different from the strips of cloth that made a huge buzz in the 90's. Now we see the trend of bold, heavy pieces. Dress up the collar with a short set of sophisticated pearls or a leather and metal bib like the one above from Vince Camuto. You're sure to make a statement with a bold choker no matter what outfit you may have on for the day.

Love, love, love this boot from Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte Fall/winter 2011 collection. Being one of my favorite shoe designers I had to show this! The emerald green is a perfect color for this season. I adore these!

MAGNETIC NAIL POLISH

This magnetic nail polish will give you another way to change up your average manicure. In addition to the millions of colors and brands of nail polish available, we have adhesive nail polish, tye-dye nails, crackle top coats, and now this. How creative! A few companies offer many different selections in the magnetic polish. Nail Inc ( a UK company) offers the color with the magnet embedded in the cap to create the ripples in the polish. LCN has a few more colors and the magnets sold separately, but their magnets do create more designs. This is very unique but we are sure to see an increase in this once it it becomes more available in the US stores.

JUICE!

One thing I must do daily is JUICE! I too learned at a young age that we need a good amount of fruits and veggies, but it is not always easy to incorporate it into my lifestyle and eating habits. Juicing is. I love to combine fresh vegetables and fruit into one hefty serving that really gives me an energy boost. It takes some getting used to and the right combination to really grow to love this. My favorite is combining strawberries, pineapples, carrots, spinach, mango, and green apples. Surprisingly it tastes very sweet and delicious although, the appearance definitely does not lead you to think that. I make only what I will be drinking at the moment. Fresher is better, so get to juicing!

Color blocking is a trend that has carried over into this 2011 fall and winter fashion, and accessories really dress up any outfit. So find bright bold colors in necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Look at scarves to make an outfit pop if you're worried about being too vibrant. But, you can never over-accessorize in my eyes. GLOWING SKIN

Everyone wants that amazing glow. Our skin often influences our mood. With the fast paced lifestyle that most of us live we have little time to think about how the things we eat affect our health, let alone our skin. Sometimes topical remedies offer temporary fixes. To get permanent results, it starts from within. Here is a list of some foods to help us on our way to a healthy glow:

- Green tea
- Blueberries
- Flaxseed
- Salmon
- Tomatoes

Green Tea and tomatoes both have antioxidants as well as vitamins A, D, K, and zinc. Antioxidants reduce free radicals that damage skin and cause signs of aging. Blueberries have phytochemicals that reduce cell damage and they are high in vitamin C and E. Salmon and flaxseed contribute essential fatty acids that are great for your health in many ways. They regulate cell membrane function to keep out harmful toxins and keep in helpful chemicals. Remember though, water is the best thing for rejuvenation, hydration, and cleansing. These foods in combination with a diet infused with fresh fruits and vegetables, grains, and lots and lots of water will surely have you all a glow.

A staple item for every fall/winter wardrobe is the sweater. We must choose wisely though, because it serves a purpose to keep us warm but sometimes doesn't look very hot. Consider color. We all have black and gray, so choose tan, rust, emerald, or other colors to brighten your outfits. A must have trend from the past is the sweater with elbow patches. Pair your chunky sweater with fitted pants and a cute wedge or a knee high boot. Find your perfect sweater in the cardigan, the hoodie, the turtleneck, or the tunic. Sweaters can look worn quickly so be sure to care for them with mild detergent and laying flat to dry.

I admit that lace didn't have my heart at first. Many criticize lace for having a burlesque connotation, but it really has come a long way in fashion. Depending on your style, or mood, lace can have a girly innocence or a slight sexiness. The latest gloves and glasses can be found in red, black, nude and many other hues. Layer lace with dark solids for more conservative looks or with nudes for a more sultry expression. I actually have fallen in love with lace on my nails- try it, you just might like it!

Red has always been a HAUTE color! Bring in the heat this season with many shades of red. Mix wine with fire-engine to create sexy, sizzling looks that had the runways melting this year! There is a shade of red that will flatter any skin tone. Find the right one for you and work it! My absolute fav right now is the red trouser. I love to pair it with my leopard pumps for an extra vamped up look. What is your favorite red hot look of the moment?

This season a little sparkle goes a long way. Get your spirits lifted to a party mood with a sprinkle of glitter. From enhanced eyes and accessories, to tops, shoes and clutches. What girl doesn't love sparkle? Pair a flashy top with subtle pants or make a drab outfit pop with dazzling shoes. I love great and inexpensive finds that still can catch an eye!
